Work of Faith

Could Faith and Works be a reference to Christ Himself? Let's examine.

WORK OF FAITH: FAITHFULNESS IN SHARING THE GOSPEL IN CHRIST?

Heb 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead <3498> works <2041>, and of faith toward God (ungodly faith?),

Heb 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead <3498> works <2041> to serve the living God?

Jas 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

Jas 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

Jas 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works <2041> is dead also. (proclaiming of faith by the church without the good works of faithful preaching is dead? Giving evidence that faith (Christ) is NOT in the midst?)

Jas 2:22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works <2041>, and by works was faith made perfect?

Re 3:2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works <2041> perfect before God.

Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Jas 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

Jas 2:24 Ye see then how that by works <2041> a man is justified, and not by faith only.

1Th 1:3 Remembering without ceasing your work <2041> of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;

2Th 1:11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work <2041> of faith with power:

Jas 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works <2041>, is dead <3498>, being alone.

Ga 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Ga 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? (works of the law = ungodly faith?)

WORKS OF GOD: FAITHFUL GOSPEL?

Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works <2041>, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

1Jo 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed <2041> and in truth.

Joh 6:28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?

Joh 6:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Joh 3:27 John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.

Ro 4:3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

Ro 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, HIS faith is counted for righteousness.

Eze 36:27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

Re 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works <2041> do follow them.

Re 2:19 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.

Ro 13:3 For rulers <758> are not a terror to good works <2041>, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:

Lu 24:20 And how the chief priests and our rulers <758> delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him.

Joh 7:48 Have any of the rulers <758> or of the Pharisees believed on him?

Joh 12:31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince <758> of this world be cast out.

1Pe 2:12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

1Pe 3:1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;

1Pe 3:16 Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.

COMMUNICATING: GOOD WORKS IN FAITHFULLY SHARING THE GOSPEL?

1Ti 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

1Ti 6:18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works <2041>, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;

Ga 6:6 Let him that is taught in the word communicate <2841> unto him that teacheth in all good things.

Ro 12:13 Distributing <2841> to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

Php 4:15 Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with <2841> me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.

Heb 13:16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

GOOD WORKS: THE GOODNESS OF GOD?

Lu 18:19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.

Ps 73:1 Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.

Lu 6:35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be

great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

Ro 12:20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

WORKS OF THE WICKED: FALSE GOSPELS?

1Jo 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works <2041> of the devil.

Ro 9:32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works <2041> of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works <2041> that are therein shall be burned up.

Lu 11:48 Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds <2041> of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchres.

Joh 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds <2041> were evil.

Re 2:22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds <2041>.

SUMMARY CONCLUSION

The Bible appears to be linking work of faith to the salvation that is in Christ. Work seems to point to the Work of God that calls for faithfulness to His Word. Faith seems to point to Christ Himself. Since God is the one who provides salvation, Faith (Christ) is a gift of God that allows for faithfulness in preaching through the Spirit that reveals truth.
