RESTING FROM THEIR LABOURS: SALVATION… FINDING REST AS THE BODY IS REDEEMED FROM ITS OWN WORKS?

Labours can be viewed as sharing the gospel of Faith in Christ. Resting from the labours then could be viewed as those who are resting in Christ as they cease from their own works.

Re 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may <rest from their labours <2873>; and their works do follow them.

Heb 3:18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?

1Th 3:5 For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour <2873> be in vain.

RESTING FROM THEIR LABOURS (TROUBLE, WEARINESS ): SALVATION… ELECT COMING OUT OF TRIBULATION OR TROUBLE?

Hab 3:16 When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice: rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: when he cometh up unto the people, he will invade them with his troops.

2Ch 15:4 But when they in their trouble did turn unto the LORD God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them.

Mic 4:10 Be in pain, and labour to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail: for now shalt thou go forth out of the city, and thou shalt dwell in the field, and thou shalt go even to Babylon; there shalt thou be delivered; there the LORD shall redeem thee from the hand of thine enemies.

1Th 2:9 For ye remember, brethren, our labour <2873> and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.

SUMMARY CONCLUSION

The Bible appears to be confirming that resting from labours (Re 14:13) is the language of a collective salvation. It is looking primarily at the redemption of the church at the revelation of Christ. This is the time when the elect who’d been waiting for God to judge Babylon find deliverance in Christ as they come out of tribulation.
