Land of UZ

Could the Land of UZ be spiritually pointing to the Church? Let's examine.

UZ: TYPE OF THE CHURCH FROM WHICH THE ELECT ARE BROUGHT OUT?

Job 1:1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed (put or take away, depart, remove…) evil.

Job 1:8 And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?

1Co 13:10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

Job 1:9 Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?

Job 1:10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

Job 1:11 But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.

Job 1:12 And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

La 4:21 Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, that dwellest in the land of Uz; the cup also shall pass through unto thee: thou shalt be drunken, and shalt make thyself naked.

La 4:22 The punishment of thine iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of Zion; he will no more carry thee away into captivity: he will visit thine iniquity, O daughter of Edom; he will discover thy sins.

Jer 25:17 Then took I the cup at the LORD’S hand, and made all the nations to drink, unto whom the LORD had sent me:

Jer 25:18 To wit, Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and the kings thereof, and the princes thereof, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, an hissing, and a curse; as it is this day;

Jer 25:19 Pharaoh king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and all his people;

Jer 25:20 And all the mingled (even, evening, night) people, and all the kings of the land of Uz, and all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Azzah, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod,

UR: TYPE OF THE CHURCH FROM WHICH THE ELECT ARE BROUGHT OUT?

Ge 11:28 And Haran (brother of Abraham) died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.

Ge 11:31 And Terah took Abram (exalted father) his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram’s wife; and they went forth <03318> with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.

Ge 15:7 And he said unto him, I am the LORD that brought thee out <03318> of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it.

Ps 25:15 Mine eyes are ever toward the LORD; for he shall pluck <03318> my feet out of the net.

Ps 25:17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out <03318> of my distresses.

Ps 136:11 And brought out <03318> Israel from among them: for his mercy endureth for ever:

Ne 9:7 Thou art the LORD the God, who didst choose Abram, and broughtest him forth <03318> out of Ur of the Chaldees, and gavest him the name of Abraham (father of a multitude);

Ge 12:1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

Lu 14:26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

Eph 5:31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

Joh 2:16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house an house of merchandise.

Lu 16:27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house:

Eph 2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

Act 7:2 And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,

Act 7:3 And said unto him, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.

Act 7:4 Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Charran (a mountaineer – city in mesopotamia): and from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell.

Act 7:5 And he gave him none inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on: yet he promised that he would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when as yet he had no child.

CONCLUSION

UR of the Chaldees and the Land of UZ appear to portray the church. The elect are called out of UR (land of nativity – mother and father - babylon) just as Abraham was called by God from the land of his nativity to come to the promise land. The same would be true with UZ where Job came from. As he suffered affliction from the hand of God in that land, so too the elect were chastised in the body of Christ in tribulation prior to the separation.
