By Bread Alone

Could bread alone be a reference to the wisdom of the Church? Let's examine.

BREAD ALONE: MILK OF THE WORD THE CHURCH PARTOOK OF?

Mt 4:2 And when he (Christ) had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

Mt 4:3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

Mt 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word (Christ?) that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Joh 6:49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.

Heb 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

De 8:1 All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers.

De 8:2 And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.

De 8:3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna (milk of the word?), which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

MANNA: WORD OF GOD THAT BECAME LEAVENED?

Ex 16:2 And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness:

Ex 16:3 And the children of Israel said unto them, Would to God we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.

Joh 6:49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.

Joh 6:58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

Mt 16:12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

1Co 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

1Co 5:8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

Mt 16:6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

Ga 5:9 A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.

Isa 4:1 And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach.

HIDDEN MANNA: CHRIST?

Re 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

2Th 3:12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness <2271> they work, and eat their own bread.

1Ti 2:11 Let the woman learn in silence <2271> with all subjection.

1Ti 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence <2271>.

LEAVING UNTIL THE MORNING: CONTINUING IN THE OLD LEAVEN UNTIL THE END?

Ex 16:18 And when they did mete it with an omer, he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every man according to his eating.

De 28:38 Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather but little in; for the locust shall consume it.

Hag 1:6 Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.

Mt 20:16 So the last (gathered little?) shall be first, and the first (gathered much?) last: for many be called, but few chosen.

Ex 16:19 And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till the morning.

Ex 16:20 Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left of it (manna) until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank: and Moses was wroth <07107> with them.

Isa 47:6 I was wroth <07107> with my people, I have polluted mine inheritance, and given them into thine hand: thou didst shew them no mercy; upon the ancient hast thou very heavily laid thy yoke.

Ga 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in ALL THINGS which are written in the book of the law to do them.

Ga 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

Eph 5:3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

Ex 12:10 And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.

Ru 3:13 Tarry this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman’s part: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee, then will I do the part of a kinsman to thee, as the LORD liveth: lie down until the morning.

Mt 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

Jas 5:2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.

SUMMARY CONCLUSION

Not living by bread alone seems to relate to the need for Salvation in Christ. Although God cared for and fed the body corporately, unless one lives by every word (Christ) that comes out of the mouth of God, they would appear to give evidence they are trusting in their own bread that becomes the leavened of the Pharisees. If these are left until the morning (Judgment Day) they bread worms and stink (come under the wrath of God).
