THE CLEFTS OF THE ROCK: CHRIST?

Ps 62:7 In God is my salvation and my glory: the ROCK of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

2Sa 22:3 The God of my ROCK; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.

So 2:14 O my dove, that art in the clefts <02288> of the rock <05553>, in the secret places of the stairs, let me see thy countenance, let me hear thy voice; for sweet is thy voice, and thy countenance is comely.

Ex 33:22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift <05366> of the rock <06697>, and will cover <05526> thee with my hand while I pass by:

Ps 5:11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest <05526> them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.

Isa 2:21 To go into the clefts <05366> of the rocks <06697>, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.

FEAR OF THE LORD: REPENTANCE?

Isa 2:10 Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty.

Ps 64:9 And all men shall FEAR, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing.

Job 28:28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

Pr 2:5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

Pr 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

Pr 14:27 The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

NO FEAR: THE WICKED DO NOT FEAR AND DO NOT REPENT?

Ro 3:18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.

Pr 1:29 For that they hated knowledge, and did NOT choose the fear of the LORD:

Re 9:20 And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented NOT of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:

Re 16:9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.

Re 2:21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented NOT.

CASTING AWAY THE IDOLS: TURNING AWAY FROM SIN?

Isa 31:6 TURN YE unto him from WHOM the children of Israel have deeply revolted.

Isa 31:7 For in that DAY every man shall cast away <07993> his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your own hands have made unto you for a sin.

Eze 20:7 Then said I unto them, Cast ye away <07993> every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

Isa 2:10 Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty.

Isa 2:18 And the idols he shall utterly abolish.

Isa 2:19 And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.

1Sa 13:6 When the men of Israel saw that they were in a strait, (for the people were distressed,) then the people did hide themselves in caves, and in thickets, and in rocks, and in high places, and in pits.

HIDING IN THE ROCKS AND MOUNTAINS: FLEEING TO CHRIST IN TRIBULATION?

Ge 19:17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.

Ps 27:5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

So 4:6 Until the day break, and the shadows flee away, I will get me to the mountain of myrrh, and to the hill of frankincense.

Ps 91:4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou TRUST: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Ps 143:9 Deliver me, O LORD, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me.

Lu 1:24-25 And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying, Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he looked on me, to take away my reproach among men.

SUMMARY CONCLUSION

Hiding in the mountains and rocks for fear of the Lord seems to point to the elect coming out of tribulation at the revelation of Christ. He is the rocks and caves in which the believers find refuge as they cast away the idols of Egypt.
