The Bible appears to be relating going astray to the tribulation that came on the whole body of Christ. The initial command was for the church to be the kinsmen redeemer and overseer of the flock of God. When it failed to do so, it caused the people of God to go astray. Therefore God brought His judgment to the body (now Babylon) by giving it over to antichrist, while at the same time redeeming the elect FROM Babylon.
