The Bible appears to be associating failing hearts to the state of the church in tribulation. First the Elect, then God’s wrath on Babylon at the revelation of Christ. Christ is the STRENGTH of the HEART. So when hearts fail, it would mean Christ (the Heartbeat of the Church) is no longer present among the congregations.
