Two Witnesses

Looking into the Two Witnesses as well as the Third witness.

LAW AND THE PROPHETS: WORD OF GOD, THE BIBLE?

Mt 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Mt 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Mt 11:13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.

Mt 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

Mt 22:38 This is the first and great commandment.

Mt 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Mt 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Mt 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

Re 2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

Lu 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

Joh 1:45 Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

Ac 13:15 And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.

Ac 24:14 But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:

Ac 28:23 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.

Ro 3:21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being <witnessed> by the law and the prophets;

Heb 10:7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

MOSES AND ELIJAH: WORD OF GOD, THE BIBLE?

Lu 9:30 And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses (the law) and Elias (the prophets):

Lu 9:31 Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem. (The Word of God who condemns Christ?)

Nu 20:11 And Moses (the law) lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock (Christ) twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.

Mal 4:5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:

Mal 4:6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

Mt 21:11 And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.

Lu 1:15 For he (John / Christ) shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb.(John = Jehovah is a gracious giver)

Lu 1:16 And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.

Lu 1:17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

Joh 1:27 He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe’s latchet I am not worthy to unloose.

Mt 17:12 But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.

Mt 17:13 Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.

MOSES AND THE PROPHETS: WORD OF GOD, THE BIBLE?

Lu 16:29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

Lu 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though ONE rose from the dead.

Lu 24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

Ac 26:22 Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:

Joh 1:45 Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

ONE, TWO OR THREE WITNESSES: WHO ARE THEY?

De 19:15 One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.

Mt 26:59 Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death;

Mt 26:60 But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses,

De 17:6 At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death.

Nu 35:30 Whoso killeth any person, the murderer shall be put to death by the mouth of witnesses: but one witness shall not testify against any person to cause him to die.

De 31:26 Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.

THIRD WITNESS: THE CHURCH AS A FALSE WITNESS?

Ex 20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

De 19:18 And the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified falsely against his brother;

De 19:19 Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you.

Job 16:8 And thou hast filled me with wrinkles, which is a witness against me: and my leanness (lies, lying) rising up in me beareth witness to my face.

Pr 24:28 Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive not with thy lips.

Pr 25:18 A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.

Ps 27:12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.

Isa 3:9 The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.

Mt 26:59 Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death;

Jas 5:3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

THIRD WITNESS: THREE IN ONE IN THE GODHEAD?

1Jo 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are ONE.

1Jo 5:8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in ONE. (Atonement?)

1Jo 5:9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.

Mt 18:15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

Mt 18:16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.

Mt 18:17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

Joh 5:31 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.

Joh 5:32 There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.

Joh 5:36 But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.

Joh 5:37 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.

Joh 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

Mt 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

DEATH OF THE TWO WITNESSES: SILENCING OF THE WORD OF GOD IN TRIBULATION?

Re 11:3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

Re 11:7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

Da 8:24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.

Da 12:7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.

SUMMARY CONCLUSION

The Bible appears to be equating the two witnesses with the Word of God itself: the Law and the Prophets, Moses and the Prophets, Moses and Elijah. The ONE Witness seems to point to Christ the saviour as Father, Son and Holy Ghost. The third witness seems to point to Christ again in the trinity. If one does not hear two witnesses (law and prophets), he or she can be put to death. If one does not hear the third witness (trinity) they can also be put to death as it would give evidence they are not identified with the Godhead.
