Tower of Babel

Could the Tower of Babel relate to the Rise and Fall of Babylon? Let's examine.

Ge 11:4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a CITY and a TOWER, whose top may **reach unto heaven**; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.

Ps 127:1 Except the LORD build the HOUSE, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep THE CITY, the watchman waketh but in vain.

Re 18:5 For her sins have **reached unto heaven**, and God hath remembered HER iniquities.

Jer 51:9 We would have healed BABYLON, but she is not healed: forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country: for her judgment **reacheth unto heaven**, and is lifted up even to the skies.

Isa 14:13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will **ascend into heaven**, I will exalt my THRONE above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

De 1:28 Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; THE CITIES are great and **walled up to heaven**; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.

De 9:1 Hear, O Israel: Thou art to pass over Jordan this day, to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than thyself, CITIES great and **fenced up to heaven**,

Da 4:11 THE TREE grew, and was strong, and the height thereof **reached unto heaven**, and the sight thereof to the end of all the earth:

Da 4:22 It is thou, O KING, that art grown and become strong: for thy greatness is grown, and **reacheth unto heaven**, and thy dominion to the end of the earth.

Isa 2:12,15 For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is LIFTED UP; and he shall be brought low:... And upon every HIGH TOWER, and upon every fenced wall,

Ge 11:4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a NAME, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.

Jos 23:7 That ye come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the NAME of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow yourselves unto them:

Re 14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of HIS NAME.

Jer 14:14 Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies IN MY NAME: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.

Re 13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the NAME of blasphemy.

Re 22:4 And they shall see his face; and HIS NAME shall be in their foreheads.

Ge 11:6 And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.

Ge 11:1 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.

Ge 11:7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.

De 28:49 The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a NATION whose tongue thou shalt not understand;

Isa 33:19 Thou shalt not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech than thou canst perceive; of a stammering tongue, that thou canst not understand.

Isa 28:11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

Ge 11:8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.

Ge 11:9 Therefore is the name of it called BABEL; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

Zep 3:9 For then will I turn to the people a pure language <08193>, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one <0259> consent.

Ac 2:5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

Ac 2:6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.

Ac 2:8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

The historical event of the tower of babel appears to be spiritually pointing to the church wanting to build a tower and name above the NAME of God. He intervened and confounded the language just as, today, He gives the false prophets over to a nation of another tongue.
