Rod of Correction
Could God's Rod of Correction be a reference to False Prophets He allows to rule in Tribulation and Judgment?

Ps 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod <07626> and thy staff they comfort me.
Ps 45:6 Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre <07626> of thy kingdom is a right sceptre <07626>.

BEATEN WITH THE ROD: CHASTENING OF THE ELECT AS ANTICHRIST RULE IN TRIBULATION

SWORD FOR SWORD: WICKED DESTROYED BY OWN DEVICE?
Isa 10:24 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, O my people that dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall smite <05221> thee with a rod <07626>, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt.

REFINING THE ELECT: A NECESSARY PART OF THE JUDGMENT PROCESS?
Zec 13:9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.

SUMMARY CONCLUSION
The Bible appears to be associating rod of correction with antichrist ruling in tribulation with a destructive gospel. The elect were forced to endure this rod as they were beaten, corrected, scourged or chastised. However at the revelation of Christ, He began to unseal the Bible to bring them out of tribulation.
