Broken Spirit

Could broken spirit or contrite heart point to a spiritual reference to the Elect having had to endure tribulation?

SORROW OF HEART, HUMBLE, BROKEN, CONTRITE HEART OR SPIRIT: ELECT IN TRIBULATION?

Pr 15:13 A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit <07307> is broken <05218>.

Pr 17:22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken <05218> spirit <07307> drieth the bones.

Pr 18:14 The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded <05218> spirit <07307> who can bear?

Ps 34:18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite <01793> spirit <07307>.

Ps 90:3 Thou turnest man to destruction <01793>; and sayest, Return, ye children of men.

Job 6:9 Even that it would please God to destroy <01792> me; that he would let loose his hand, and cut me off!

Ps 143:3 For the enemy hath persecuted my soul; he hath smitten <01792> my life down <01792> to the ground; he hath made me to dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead.

SCATTERED DRY BONES: ELECT IN TRIBULATION?

Pr 17:22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

Ps 63:1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

Am 8:11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:

Eze 37:11 Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.

Eze 37:4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.

Eze 6:5 And I will lay the dead carcases of the children of Israel before their idols; and I will scatter your bones round about your altars.

Ps 141:7 Our bones are scattered at the grave’s mouth, as when one cutteth and cleaveth wood upon the earth.

JUDGMENT & SALVATION: REVELATION OF CHRITS?

La 3:65 Give them sorrow of heart, thy curse unto them.

Re 18:7 How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.

Isa 65:14 Behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart, but ye shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall howl for vexation of spirit.

De 28:65 And among these nations shalt thou find no ease, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest: but the LORD shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind:

Job 22:9 Thou hast sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken <01792>.

Job 5:4 His children are far from safety, and they are crushed <01792> in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them.

SUMMARY CONCLUSION

The Bible appears to be associating a contrite heart or broken spirit to the elect in tribulation as judgment begins at the house of God. But because they’d been sealed, God obligated Himself to redeem them from Babylon at the revelation of Christ.
