Lot's Wife

Is Lot's Wife a type of the unsaved church in the Day of Judgment?

LOT’S WIFE: Coming to the mountains for destruction?

Ge 19:16 And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.

Ge 19:17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.

Ge 19:18 And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord:

Ge 19:19 Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain <02022>, lest some evil <07451> take me, and I die:

Mr 13:14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:

Ex 32:12 Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief <07451> did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains <02022>, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil <07451> against thy people.

Heb 3:18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?

2Th 2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Ge 19:20 Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.

Ge 19:22 Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar (insignificance).

TEN CLEANSED – ONE SAVED

Lu 17:11 And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

Lu 17:12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:

Lu 17:13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.

Lu 17:14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.

Lu 17:15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,

Lu 17:16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.

Lu 17:17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?

Lu 17:18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.

Lu 17:19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

Ge 19:24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;

BACKSLIDING: Turning away, Turning back, Back turning, Apostasy

Jer 49:4 Wherefore gloriest thou in the valleys, thy flowing valley, O backsliding daughter? that trusted in her treasures, saying, Who shall come unto me?

Mt 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

DESIRING THE BREAD OF EGYPT

CLEAVING WITH FLATTERIES

Da 11:33 And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days.

Da 11:34 Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries <02519>.

Ps 35:6 Let their way be dark and slippery <02519>: and let the angel of the LORD persecute them.

Jer 23:12 Wherefore their way shall be unto them as slippery <02519> ways in the darkness: they shall be driven on, and fall therein: for I will bring evil <07451> upon them, even the year of their visitation, saith the LORD.

Da 11:21 And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries <02519>.

Mt 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. (Gospels seems very close to truth both before and after the tribulation)

THE HOUSE: BABYLON, CHRISTENDOM?

Lu 17:31 In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.

Mt 15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house <3624> of Israel.

Mt 12:29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house <3614>, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.

Lu 9:4 And whatsoever house <3614> ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart <1831>.

1Co 3:17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

Jer 32:34 But they set their abominations in the house, which is called by my name, to defile it.

Mt 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

THE STONES OF THE TEMPLE

Mt 24:2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone <3037> upon another <3037>, that shall not be thrown down.

1Pe 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones <3037>, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

Eph 2:21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:

Mr 14:58 We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.

De 4:28 And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men’s hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.

STUFF: THE OLD PATH THAT BROUGHT GOD’S WRATH IN THE FIRST PLACE?

Job 22:15 Hast thou marked the old way which wicked men have trodden?

Re 3:2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.

Summary Conclusion

Lot’s wife appears to be all those who come to the mountains only to be destroyed by God. They are still attached to false doctrines. Like Lot, they should be fleeing to Zoar. This may also be connected to the understanding that one is fleeing the local churches rather than seeing that the spiritual temple is in view. The Exodus was a picture of the depart out; yet not everyone who came out of Egypt were saved. So, God it seems, allows for a general understanding of the end of the church age which includes a surface knowledge of leaving the institutional church (10 cleansed). The house the Elect have to come out of appears to be that of fleeing false gospels altogether and find Christ in the Bible (1 saved).
