| God, it seems, is using Solomon as both a figure of Christ as well as the corporate body. Just like Solomon, the corporate church was given wisdom and riches; but it allowed these riches to eventually turn its heart away from God in OLD age. Let's examine. |

Solomon = Peace (Christ is the Prince of Peace)
Why should we be concerned about the salvation of Solomon? We should be concerned as to whether or not Solomon was saved because Lord willing, it should provide insight as to how God wrote the Bible. If he was saved, then God is using him as a type of figure of someone else and we want to know who that someone else is. We want to know anything and everything the Bible has to say as we look for truth in the substance. Because God speaks in parables, the Gospel message is what we ought to be primarily concerned with. And we can only find it searching the Bible as God the Holy Spirit leads:
2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: Pr 25:2 It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter. Ps 51:6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
Corporately, the Body was Created Perfect: God provided Riches and Wisdom
Pride Corrupts Wisdom in Old Age – Departure from God – Wisdom becomes that of man
Riches are Gathered but Corrupted Wisdom becomes vanity and God Gives them to the Elect?
Chastened but Elect are Redeemed (Salvation)
God removing the kingdom from Solomon: Death of the church? 1Ki 11:11 Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant. 1Ki 11:12 Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father’s sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son. 1Ki 11:13 Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake which I have chosen.
David also typified the unsaved body in one occasion: 2Sa 12:2 The rich man had exceeding many flocks and herds: 2Sa 12:4 And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man’s lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him. 2Sa 12:5 And David’s anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, As the LORD liveth, the man that hath done this thing shall surely die: 2Sa 12:6 And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity. 2Sa 12:7 And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;
Conclusion: God, it appears is contrasting Solomon (Peace) with the corporate body who started off perfect and wise and later turned away from God. The wisdom was corrupted when its heart was lifted up. God it seems can use a child of God to typify the unsaved. We see this with David who committed adultery and murder to the point where God labeled him as a rich man. God taking the kingdom away from Solomon because of his sins in old age appears to be a picture of what’s happened to the corporate body today.
