| A continued look into Hebrew 9:27. We begin to examine the language of the Bible dealing with a corporate forgiveness. This might bring us to understand the death (salvation of the wicked - dead bury the dead) as it relates to the verse in question. |

Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
A Corporate, Conditional Forgiveness? Heb 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. Isa 53:11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Mt 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen. Mt 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? Ac 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. Heb 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, Heb 6:5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, Heb 6:6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. Jude 1:5 I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not. Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant Mt 18:23 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account^3056 of his servants^1401. Mt 25:19 After a long time the lord of those servants^1401 cometh, and reckoneth^3056 with them. Joh 5:28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, 1Co 3:13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. Mt 18:24 And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents. Mt 18:25 But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. Mt 18:26 The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. Mt 18:27 Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave^863 him the debt. Lu 11:4 And forgive^863 us our sins; for we also forgive^863 every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. Mr 11:26 But if ye do not forgive^863, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive^863 your trespasses. Mr 11:25 And when ye stand praying, forgive^863, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive^863 you your trespasses. Mt 18:28 But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. Mt 18:29 And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. Mt 18:30 And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. Mt 18:31 So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done. Mt 18:32 Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt^863, because thou desiredst me: Mt 18:33 Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? Mt 18:34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. Mt 18:35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
Much vs. Little Forgiveness Lu 7:41 There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty. Lu 7:42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most? Lu 17:34 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. Mr 9:45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Lu 7:43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged. Lu 7:44 And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head. Lu 7:45 Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet. Lu 7:46 My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment. Lu 7:47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. Eze 33:31 And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness. Mt 15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. Pr 28:11 The rich man is wise in his own conceit; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out. Ps 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
Conclusion: When it comes to a corporate forgiveness, God appears to be contrasting between how the BODY reacts to God’s forgiveness through Christ. The one who is forgiven much is the Elect and therefore they recognized the enormity of their debt and love much. The unsaved in the body is viewed as loving little because their forgiven debt is little. This appears to be language dealing with the fact that the unsaved are wise in their own conceit and they are not really trusting God. This again appears to tie into Heb 9:27-28: Christ bore the sins of many and therefore God can speak of the unsaved dying in the context of Salvation. Yet in the last study we see how this identifies with the dead who bury the dead.
